HP-UX to Linux Migration2-4 weeks This is a large suite course covering everything needed for a server migration from HP-UX to Linux. It bundles delta training (what differences there are) components suitable for end users, operators, system administrators, troubleshooters and system architects. Topics include extensive coverage of HP software (what works the same, known issues, and suitable replacements) such as OpenView and SAP and Oracle migration.
Email systems
SENDMAIL 2 How to administer the standard Unix sendmail system, including deciphering sendmail.cf and the m4 macro system. [PDF course notes] [PDF overheads]
ANTI-SPAM/UCE 3Hands-on implementation and theory for reducing SPAM (UCE) including RBL, RUBLS, milters, SpamAssassin, PGP authentication, SPF, whitelists and Bayesian techniques.
POSTFIX 1 How to maintain a Postfix-based email system, including migration from sendmail and integration with POP and IMAP servers.
QMAIL 2 All the ins-and-outs of the Qmail mail system including QMTP, coverage of command locations, startup and special features of Qmail
SAMBA3Setting up a Samba file server on Unix/Linux/*BSD to serve MS-Windows client desktops, including authentication, directory integration, password synchronisation and status monitoring.
APACHE2How to set up and maintain the Apache web server, including clustering, authenticated content, conditional content and SSL enablement.
Programming
PERL3-5How to program in Perl, starting with no assumed knowledge of the language. Suitable for somewhat experienced programmers. Tailored version exists for experienced Cobol programmers. Covers basic language constructs, modules, CGI programming, mod_perl and style guidelines.
PERL-DBI1-2How to program the Perl database interface. Normally 1 day, 2 days for students with no background knowledge of SQL.
PHP2How to program in PHP4, together with an overview of some of the more interesting libraries.
EXPECT1-2How to automate non-interactive programs using expect. Second day on making graphical user interfaces in expecttk (optional). [PDF - Slides]

Voice-over-IP (VOIP)

Delivery Options

The Institute for Open Systems Technologies (Ifost) offers a small selection of courses itself, and others in conjunction with Hewlett-Packard , Information Technology Training Consultants, EXCOM Education and others.

Courses delivered in conjunction with HP and EXCOM can be on-site or at their respective training facilities. ITTC courses are delivered on-site at the customer's premises.

IFOST-only courses can be delivered face-to-face on customer premises or off-site; they can also be delivered as tele-courses using a unique combination of video conferencing, voice-over-ip, a shared whiteboard and desktop takeover that we have developed to help organisations to save on travel costs.
