K. Eric Drexler will appear on the cover of Time.

Drexler will be on the cover of one of the 52 issues.

Why:

Over the next few years, knowledge of the possibilities of molecular manufacturing (nanotechnology) will filter through society. In 2003, Time will say that Drexler's book Nanosystems: Molecular Machinery, Manufacturing, and Computation will be be remembered by historians as the most important book of the twentieth century, possibly the most important book of the millenium, noting that it was so far ahead of its time that it was barely noticed when published in 1992.
